Going by the name commercial architects, we can understand that these people are a group of professionals who are involved in designing commercial buildings like any offices or business organizations, shopping malls, retail outlets, etc. One should not confuse them with residential architects who are solely engaged in constructing and designing houses.
The architects who deal with designing offices or entertainment zones possess a good amount of engineering skills with a dose of art for building these structures. They are generally found to be working along with a team of similar professionals to finish a given project.
In order to become an architect, one must possess a professional degree in Bachelor of Architecture. The Bachelors’ degree program focuses on areas like designing buildings, studying structures, software-aided design, construction, etc. The duration is for five years. After that, they should undertake internship projects compulsorily as they add up to their total marks. The internship program is also a gateway to register oneself for the State License program.
After the completion of the internship, they have to take the Architect Registration Examination, which includes questions from their internship experiences like planning, design, construction, site planning, etc. They have to pass this examination in order to receive the State License after which they can professionally pursue their career of architecture.
Since the responsibility of designing an entire commercial structure rests solely on the architects, they need to plan well before embarking on the work. At the beginning of a project, a detailed discussion takes place between the client and the architect. The architects present their proposal and a rough design before the client. Based on that the next phases are detailed out including the budget, specific details and the scheduled day from when the work will start. They remain in constant contact with the clients and keep them updated about the progress of the projects. They collaborate with other professionals like interior decorators, engineers, landscape architects and others for the purpose of the projects.
Since they work in a team, they coordinate the work of the others. That is why the architects involved in designing commercial projects are found to collaborate the works of the system engineers, electricians, plumber, interior decoration and others. They are also responsible for the safety and security of the buildings. Thus, they must be extra cautious about the fire system, emergency exit, water pipelines, electrical wirings, etc. They must include all these in their proposals when they are visiting a client since these are the factors upon which budget will be estimated.
They also coordinate the works of the contractors and sub-contractors to maintain the quality of the project. They keep a vigilant eye on the contractors to ensure that the work is completed smoothly and within the estimated time.
Thus, we can see that the work of the commercial architects includes a number of parameters. With the rapid expansion of population, there has been a surge of employment and entertainment zone. As a result, more and more people are pursuing this architectural course since there are a number of projects in the pipeline which guarantee a steady employment for almost a decade.
